Dangerous

So, for the letter D, I chose the word, Dangerous. To be more specific, I chose Dangerous men.

One of the genre's I write in is Romantic Suspense. It's my favorite. Who doesn't love a chase, or conflict? The suspense is exhilarating. Turning page after page, wondering what will go wrong, who done it, will the hero save the day?

Dangerous men go hand in hand with suspense, be it the villain or the Hero. There is something very sexy to me about a man that is impulsive and courageous, willing to do whatever it takes, especially when it comes to his girl. And the appeal of the bad boy, well, I can't resist. Ever. I write them bad, as bad as I can get away with, and when I read, if there is a bad boy, I instantly fall in love.

In my series, The Jayne Series, we have several dangerous men at play. Flynn, the MC in the first two books is dangerous in the way that Jayne's heart is on the line. He could make her or break her, and he's unpredictable. She can't read him at all. He's elusive, selfish, and possessive. Not to mention, he's sort of a dirty stalker. But, he's also hardcore when it comes to keeping her safe. He tells her several times throughout the struggles they face that he will kill anyone that comes between them or that tries to cause her harm. He means it, and he does kill for her.

Then, we have Vince, her confidant and big brother figure. He's quiet, steady, and a criminal. He makes no excuses for the fact that he's a very bad man. He hustles people out of money, runs prostitutes, and takes out people left and right without batting an eyelash. He's an out and out criminal, and has no intentions of changing. He is what he is, and even when he finds a reason to tone that down, to change for the better, he refuses, because it's what he is. He's bad, but he's also loyal and loves hard. Anyone that wins the heart of Vince Slater better prepare to be owned. He gets what he wants, even when he has to lie, cheat, steal or kill to get it.

So, dangerous men... Love them, or hate them?
