Today our questions are from the lovely Tessa Gray Do any characters you've written into your books remind you of yourself? Explain which ones and why.I would say that there is a slight part of me within each of my characters. But Eden, the Heroine in my current WIP probably has the most characteristics. I am a total nature lover. The beach especially. I live in a beach town, and grew up going to the beach almost daily. I still feel wound up and edgy if I don't get a little sand time at least a couple days a week. It's where my mind heals, where I can get out of my head and just feel. I love everything about it, and it's where I'm comfortable. It's part of me, and it's the same with Eden. The beach town she calls home was a sanctuary when she was growing up. Her Nana lives there, and she'd spend every summer there. All the good memories she has are near the water. She doesn't feel like she has to prove anything when she's there. She just is. It gives her strength, and it's the same for me. I think Jayne got my stubbornness, and another character in a WIP I'm working on got my gutter mouth and sassy pants. Her name is Miranda. Was there a teacher or mentor in your life who helped nurture your writing? Not really. I did have one teacher in Jr. High that encouraged me to write more, but not so much to peruse writing or anything. She could tell that I liked writing and that's where my strength was in her class, as opposed to say... sentence structure and diagramming... and vocabulary words... But no one else really. Every author has that moment when they doubt their ability to write. When that happens to you, how do you pull yourself up by the bootstraps and continue? What do you do to inspire YOURSELF?It depends on the day. Sometimes there is nothing that will get me out of the funk. Those days I just give in to the funk. I busy myself with something else I enjoy. I go to the beach. I go hang out with friends. I go hang out with my son and watch him and his friends bike. That's all it takes sometimes to get myself refreshed. Other times, I think about my goals. Re-prioritize. See this post I did on priorities. I think about why I started this after all these years the most. Most of my life, I flitted around from this and that. I wasn't a finisher. In my ADD addled brain, I would just drop the mic and move along to the next thing. Mostly, out of self-doubt, or the doubt I allowed others to instill in me. Not anymore. I have worked too many shitty jobs. I have done what was best for everyone in my life, leaving myself to the leftovers. I'm too old for that shit. This is the only chance I'm going to get and this is what makes me happy. That's the only inspiration I need. Everyone else is just waiting on my failure, and I'll let them wait. I'm waiting on the success. So I guess, I pull myself up by the bootstraps with inner pep talks. I want to show my son, a dreamer like myself, that it's not a bad thing to dream. I don't want the naysayers to pin him in a corner like they did me. Go big and go hard and never give up. He's pretty much my biggest motivator and inspiration. Thank you for stopping by today! I completely agree with you. After looking the part of success on the outside for years, but being miserable inside, I can honestly say I'd rather write and have people wonder where my ambition and intelligence have gone than return to an office to memorize regulations and write memos that no one cares about. I also prefer jeans to suits.

I adore the beach :) You sound like I used to be, never finishing anything I started, always seeing to others and if there was anything left I could call it mine. I also reached that point in life where I had to give myself permission to follow my dreams :) Great answers!!!
