When writing your novel, do you know how it’s going to end before you write, or do you write from start to finish?

Never. I try to outline, really, I do. It never works out. Somehow, it always ends up going in another direction. I always say that my books are character driven. They do the writing. I am only their instrument. I always sort of have an idea about how I will end things, though, mostly because I usually write in the opposite direction. I write scene by scene and then fill in the gaps. So if the end comes to me first, I write it and work backward. 

How do the people you know impact your writing? Are you influenced by friends and family for your characters?

Definitely. I will take little characteristics, etc, sometimes without realizing it. I'll sit back and say, hmmm, he/she is acting like so and so. It's never intentional, but it's inevitable not to I think.
