describe your perfect writer retreat
You'd think this would be an easy one, but I had to really tap my temple to figure out what I should write. Having never been to a writer retreat, and only having a general idea of what that is, I decided to share what my favorite, epic writing environment would be.
First of all, comfort. I can't deal with a lot of clutter, so I need space, and sparce. Of course, that doesn't include my thirty billion notebooks, and my pens.
I found this photo on Pinterest, and it's just such a lovely calm spot. I need comfy if I'm going to be writing for any extended length of time, and omg. This little sofa/chair/whateverthehellitis is like a dream. Soft, sink right in and get to work comfy.
And then there is the view. Gah. That's just inspiring to me. If I took a picture out of any window in my house, you'd see the neighbors wall, fence, house, window, ugly mug. I live in a very shoebox neighborhood, one of those built in the fifties when they just wanted to hurry up and cram as many houses on a block as possible. I can hear the dude next door when he flushes his toilet. Yeah. So big windows, wide open spaces, that's a beautiful thing, and very inspiring to my creativity.
Now, coffee is necessary, snacks too. Also, I'd have to bring my dog and my favorite cat. That's about about perfect for me as it gets.
BUT... let's not forget peace and quiet. Distractions are not allowed in this retreat. Ideal situation would be me all alone--a concept that is about as real to me as Unicorns delivering pizza and Cherry Garcia.
