So, week number two.
I knew it was going to be a challenge putting a new book out there, but nothing could have prepared me for the task of doing so.
Being an Indie Author isn't easy. Is it rewarding, sure, but there is a lot of work involved.
Going into the release of See Jayne Play last week, it was a little bit like this:
Yeah. Totally terrifying. I was a wreck. It was scary putting myself out there, creeping around in new territory. I'm no stranger to being the little fish in the big pond, but there was something significant about it this time. It was a goal and I'd accomplished this goal. When you're worried about strangers reading your words, how they're going to react, if it's going to sell, if it's going to be liked... it's a little difficult to enjoy what's going on.
But then I did. Once it was done, and I made it through the week unscathed, I got to just sit back and enjoy the fact that I finished this book, and I sent it out into the world. That's huge. That's something to be proud of. And I am. Good, bad or indifferent, I did this and it's a good thing.
But I couldn't have done it alone. I am blessed to have a wonderful support network of friends. They have held my hand, pimped my book, read my book, bought my book, and more importantly, they have just shown me that they are there no matter what happens. That, to me, is priceless.
So, my goal this week is just to enjoy the ride, and get my butt in gear and write some more because that's what makes me happy. Writing. And so I'll write.
Thanks for the amazing week my friends, old and new!
